Helitek-RC was founded in 1985 Ernie Ignacio, a 47 year old retired army soldier.  Right from the start he started modifying and fabricating upgrade parts for of his RC vehicles.

By 1987 he started RC racing, mostly off-road vehicles buggies and trucks.  He worked part time at a hobby shop gaining knowledge and ability as time went on.  As his experience grew, he became known for the modifications on his racers, not necessarily the fastest vehicles, but definitely the best handling.  These vehicles consistently put him in the winners circle. He has built many buggies and trucks for his customers throughout his 15 years of racing.

Wanting a new challenge he decided to try RC airplanes, Ernie not being a patient person, bypassed the flight sims and jumped right into a .45 nitro plane.  Ernie thought his experience as a racer would make him a good pilot, he was WRONG! His first flight experience lasted 30 seconds, and ended up in a large heaping pile of balsa and parts in the attic.

This brings us closer to present day. Having been an Army Paratrooper, Ernie didn’t fly helicopters, but he definitely jumped out of enough of them.  Modern RC helicopters were light and relatively inexpensive compared to just a few years ago.  The new generation of coaxial helicopters allowed him to fly with confidence in a matter of days.  Wanting to make the coaxials fly with the best flight characteristics they possibly could,  Ernie started to modify them to handle better, go faster, and make them easier to fly for the new coaxial pilot.

All parts labeled Helitek-RC are hand fabricated, pre-fitted and have been flight tested.  We want you to enjoy this great hobby knowing that you're flying with superior parts.  Thus our motto, "Where RC meets Air Superiority".
